Seeking NCW Volunteers: Stoking a Youngster’s Interest in Chemistry

Would you enjoy stoking a youngster’s budding interest in chemistry and science?  Then please consider joining the Section’s National Chemistry Week (NCW) Planning Committee for one morning as we gear up for our October NCW Program.  Our Committee’s been meeting during the summer to develop a set of age-appropriate “experiments” suitable for students in grades 2-6 according to this year’s ACS theme of “Picture Perfect Photography”.  These are fun activities designed to stoke that interest. We’ve pretty much finished the planning process, but we could use your help on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 (Note new date).  This is GAK Day at John Carroll.  On GAK (Grand Assembly of Kits) Day we meet at JCU’s Dolan Science Center for a morning of counting, sorting, measuring and weighing into boxed “kits” all the materials that our demonstrators will need to perform the NCW Program.  If you’d care to join us or if you’d like more information, please contact Bob Fowler at jrfowler@cox.net or at 216-403-9448.
